Title Discussions between US President, Richard Nixon, and UK Prime Minister, Edward Heath, in Bermuda, December (1972)
Description Group of Ten able to resolve immediate monetary issues in Washington with the help of the Chancellor the Exchequer. Trade matters discussed between the US and Japan, Canada and the EEC, and the presentation of a Gold Bill to Congress by the US Administration. The Prime Minister and President Nixon agreed upon the necessity for the UK and US, in consultation with international partners, to intensify efforts to promote a reformed international monetary system. UK will play a full part in international discussions which are now getting under way in the International Monetary Fund Executive Board. Trade issues between the European Community and the US. US Government announces that imports of Rhodesian chrome ore will be permitted follows from a provision inserted by Congress in their Military Procurement Bill.
